RALPH STANLEY & CHERRYHOLMES
George Vargas was right when he wrote in the Union Tribune: that Stanley "...can convey more emotion with one note than most singers can with two dozen." 82 year-old Ralph Stanley, a "mountain music" legend, backed by the deft playing of the Clinch Mountain Boys, sang bluegrass classics ranging from the poignant to those rollicking with joy.
At the other end of the bluegrass spectrum, emerging superstars, Cherryholmes, galvanized the audience with dazzling instrumental acrobatics and vocal virtuosity that brougt the clapping and cheering audience to its feet.
Immediaterly following the concert, the buzz in the POW! lobby was --" Wow, I surei hope they come back next season."
