Formed in 1990, the Poway Center for the Performing Arts Foundation, or "POW! Foundation,"

is the nonprofit organization responsible for booking professional artists into the city-owned Poway Center for the Performing Arts. Each year the Foundation, in partnership with the City of Poway and the Poway Unified School District, assembles a line up of top-notch talent from the worlds of drama, dance, music, comedy and more. Additionally, the Foundation sponsors the Arts in Education Initiative, a series of programs designed to give students 'up close and personal' experiences with living, working artists via workshops and master classes.

As a founding member of the Byrds, the Flying Burrito Brothers (with Gram Parsons), Manassas (with Stephen Stills) and his own Desert Rose Band, Chris Hillman has cut a wide swath across the worlds of rock, bluegrass and country music.

Now Hillman, accompanied by long-time musical partner Herb Pederson (whose performance credits include Linda Ronstadt, Emmylou Harris, Vince Gill, Johnny Rivers, Dan Fogelberg, James Taylor and more) comes to Poway for an intimate performance of highlights from his celebrated career. 

 

Eve Selis is a long time local favorite and a five-time San Diego Music Awards winner who dazzled audiences with her 2003 "Eve Selis and Friends" concert at the Center. Selis blends many styles of Americana music into her "Roadhouse Rock" style topped off by her indelible "lemonade and whiskey" voice.

The Wizard of Oz story is as familiar as it is beloved. The nasty tornado carries Dorothy and her dog Toto from the friendly confines of her Kansas home to a fabled fantasy of mystery and magic in the Land of Oz With the help of the Munchkins and Good Witch Glinda, Dorothy and her loyal pooch join forces with the dancing Scarecrow, the romantic Tin Man and, the ever-popular Cowardly Lion. Off they go down the Yellow Brick on their perilous journey to find the Wizard and ask for his help.
